Catcher Cameron Gallagher, a graduate of Manheim Township High School, was one of this season's top prospects in the short-season Appalachian League, according to
Baseball America.
Gallagher placed 20th in a survey of league managers and scouts.
The magazine says Gallagher has the tools to be a starting catcher in the major leagues. He was chosen by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2011 draft.
He hit .276 with three homers and 15 runs batted in 127 at-bats for the Burlington (N.C.) Royals, despite suffering injuries to both his hand and shoulder.
"A simple swing and knack for barreling the ball suggest Gallagher will hit for average as he matures, and a high contact rate this season argues strongly for that case," notes Gallagher's scouting report, compiled by writer Matt Eddy.
His older brother Austin is an infielder in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.
