Diakon Adoption & Foster Care will hold its fourth annual adoption and foster care night with the Harrisburg Senators on August 16th from from 6 to 9 p.m. The game against the Akron Aeros begins at 7 p.m.

Harrisburg, PA – Later this week, the Harrisburg Senators will play not only to win, but also to help children waiting for adoption gain the winning combination of permanence and stability in their lives.
Diakon Adoption & Foster Care will hold its fourth annual adoption and foster care night with the Harrisburg baseball team from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 16; the game begins at 7 p.m.
The event is held in partnership with Pennsylvania’s Statewide Adoption & Permanency Network’s Older Child Matching Initiative and will feature several youths in need of a permanent, stable family. "The night is dedicated to the youths who attend and will allow them the opportunity to interact with waiting families," says Jennifer Bircher of the Diakon Adoption & Foster Care staff.
"Senators players will be playing that night on behalf of the children involved in the Statewide Adoption & Permanency Network, and the hope is to provide public awareness about the need for resource families for these children," Bircher says.
A matching event will take place in the stage picnic area at the baseball field. In addition, interested families will be able to meet with representatives of various adoption agencies participating in the event to obtain further information on how to become an adoptive or foster family.
