CD's Devin Thomas earns ACC All-Freshman Team honors

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - Central Dauphin grad Devin Thomas of Wake Forest has earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association on Monday.

Thomas is averaging just short of a double-double in conference play at 10.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game; along with 1.5 blocks and a shooting percentage of 51.8 percent. Overall, he is averaging 8.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

He was one of five rookies in the league named to the All-Freshman Team. He received 59 of a possible 77 votes to rank fourth in the voting.

His older sister Alyssa, who plays at Maryland, was named ACC women's player of the year last week.

Devin Thomas' best game this season came in a 86-84 upset of then-No. 18 North Carolina State; he finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals.

Wake Forest is seeded 10th in the upcoming ACC Tournament. The Deacons will open against seventh-seeded Maryland on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum.
