ALTOONA -- Former major league all-star Carlos Garcia will manage the 2013 Altoona Curve, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced today.
Garcia, who spent the past two seasons as the manager of the High-A Bradenton Marauders, played for the Harrisburg Senators in 1989 and 1990. Garcia be joined in Altoona by returning hitting coach Ryan Long and athletic trainer Mike Zalno.
Stan Kyles, who spent the past 3 1/2 seasons as the bullpen coach for Milwaukee Brewers, will be the Curve's new pitching coach.
The Pirates also announced Keoni De Renne, who was a player/coach for the GCL Pirates last year, will take over the reigns of one of Pittsburgh's two teams in the Dominican Summer League.
De Renne played three season for the York Revolution.
Garcia, 45, guided the Marauders to a 134-140 record the past two seasons. He has also managed Magallanes in the Venezuelan Winter League in 2009 and 2011.
His major league playing career spanned from 1990-1999 with stops in Pittsburgh (1990-96), Toronto (1997), Anaheim (1998) and San Diego (1999). He was a National League All-Star in 1994.
