HARRISBURG -- Susquehannock High School graduate and former Penn State player Chaz Powell has been signed by the Green Bay Packers and added to the club's practice squad.

Powell, who played both defensive back and wide receiver for the Nittany Lions, is listed by the Packers as a safety. He was waived by the Oakland Raiders on August 27 after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent.

An honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a senior, Powell started 12 games at cornerback, recording 41 tackles and two interceptions.

He also ranked third in the Big Ten in kick return average (27.1), taking the opening kick of the 2011 season back for a 95-yard score.
