HARRISBURG -- Mike Cox is back with the birds.
The Atlanta Falcons announced today they have re-signed the fullback from Red Land High School and released fullback Lousaka Polite.
Cox was released in favor of Polite before the season.
With the running game not performing as well as expected, the Falcons brought back Cox on Wednesday for his blocking skills. Also, he might provide help in pass protection with this week's opponent, New Orleans, expected to blitz heavily. The Saints sacked Michael Vick seven times in a Monday night victory.
The 6'0" and 252-pound Cox was first signed by the Falcons last October after spending parts of three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He saw action in nine games with five starts and helped pave the way for running back Michael Turner to post his second straight 1,000-yard season in 2011.
Polite started five games for Atlanta this season.
