CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Travis Jankowski had two hits and scored two runs, and Willie Carmona hit a three-run homer to power Stony Brook to a 10-2 victory over host Miami in the Coral Gables Regional on Friday night.

It's the first time since 1978, a span of 21 games, that Miami (36-22) has lost a regional opener in which they hosted. The Hurricanes will face Missouri State in an elimination game Saturday.

Jankowski, a graduate of Lancaster Catholic, scored one of his runs in the Seawolves' three-run eighth inning.

Stony Brook (47-11) has won 12 straight and 23 of 24, and improved to 2-6 all-time in the NCAA tournament. The Seawolves will face UCF.

Tyler Johnson (10-1) pitched 6 1-3 innings and allowed two runs for the win. He also earned the school's only other NCAA tournament victory in 2010 against North Carolina State.

Eric Erickson (8-6) allowed four runs — two earned — in five innings, and Brad Fieger hit a two-run homer for Miami.
