YORK -- Andy Marte, once one of Major League Baseball's top prospects, has signed with the York Revolution, the team announced.

Marte, 29, last played in the United States for Triple-A Indianapolis (Pirates) in 2011. He made his major league debut in 2005 as a 21-year-old with the Atlanta Braves.

"Andy can play both first and third base and will provide some power to the middle of our lineup," said York manager Mark Mason, according to the team. "I believe he will take complete advantage of his opportunity here to showcase the talent that made him a top prospect."

He is a .271 career minor league hitter with 138 home runs. Marte owns a career batting average of .218 in the majors. According to the Revolution, he played this past season in his native Dominican Republic.

York also re-signed left-handed pitcher Chris Cody, who went 10-14 with a 4.38 ERA in 2012.
