PITTSBURGH (AP) - A coaching change didn't keep Pitt from landing Pennsylvania's all-time leading high school rusher.

Running back Rushel Shell signed with the Panthers on Wednesday, following through on his verbal commitment to the school even after the Panthers hired Paul Chryst to replace Todd Graham, who left the school after less than a year on the job.

Shell rushed for a state-record 9,078 yards during his career at Hopewell High in Aliquippa, Pa., scoring 110 touchdowns and setting a national record with 39 consecutive 100-yard games.

The Panthers signed 16 players in all, including quarterback Chad Voytik from Cleveland, Tenn. Voytik passed for more than 5,000 yards during his career and was rated the No. 1 prospect in Tennessee by one national recruiting site.
