HERSHEY -- Malia Tate-DeFreitas scored 38 points as Steel-High won its third District 3-A championship in four years with a 76-27 win over Halifax at GIANT Center.
Steel-High (23-4) jumped out to a 23-0 lead and led 29-2 after the first quarter. Tate-DeFreitas, a Hampton recruit and the reigning Class A state player of the year, scored 14 points in the first quarter.
Tess Kieffer led Halifax (16-10) with eight points.
Steel-High led 52-16 at halftime.
