ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Philipp Grubauer from Hershey of the AHL.

The Capitals brought in Grubauer on Wednesday morning because Michal Neuvirth is ill. He was expected to serve as the backup for Braden Holtby for the road game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old Grubauer has a 6-4-1 record in his rookie season with Hershey.
