A community is devastated over the Chambersburg School Board's vote to remove Cathy Dusman from her position as Assistant Superintendent. The board has switched her role to The Director of Early Childhood Education.

More than an hour before the meeting started, people lined up in front of the door to get in to show their support for Cathy Dusman.

As Dusman left the school board meeting, she was met by cheers from hundreds of supporters gathered in the school lobby. The group was cheering in support of Dusman, and in support of what she has done for the community.

In a 5-3 vote, Dusman was removed from her position as Assistant Superintendent and was switched to The Director of Early Childhood Education, a move many in the community were unhappy with.

“How can you get rid of somebody who is so professional and has touched so many lives like Cathy Dusman has.” Said School Board member Joan Smith

Every person from the community, that stepped up to the mic, wanted Dusman to keep her current job.

“I challenge you to find a single person on this earth that is better suited than Mrs. Cathy Dusman.” Ian Dale said to the board members.

Dusman was amazed at all the support from the community.  “I’m overwhelmed with the support I have here in the community.”

On Friday, Dusman was told about the possibility of a job change. But on Monday, the public found out and in just three days people rallied together to support Dusman, for what they say is an unjust move.

After the meeting, Dusman was in disbelief, but she said she is looking forward to what’s ahead.  “I’m very excited to take on the new roll of the Director of Early Childhood Education because I will be with children, and I will be with the children's parents – and that makes me extremely happy.”
