Seton Hill University releases statement about fatal charter bus crash

Seton Hill University has issued the following statement in regard to Saturday morning's fatal charter bus crash:

At approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning a bus carrying Seton Hill University's women's lacrosse team was in an accident that occurred in Cumberland County, PA.  The accident occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Carlisle, PA.  The bus was chartered through MLAKER Charter and Tours of Davidsville, PA.  The team was traveling to a NCAA-II match in Millersville University, PA.

The university understands that at least three individuals were injured seriously and taken to Hershey Medical Center. According to Cumberland County Public Information Officer Megan Silverstrim, other individuals with minor injuries were transported as follows:  eight were taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center, seven to Harrisburg Hospital and four to Holy Spirit.

Seton Hill administrators used the E-2 Campus system, campus e-mail and phone calls to communicate the seriousness of the accident to the students on campus.  The University's Associate Dean of Students is en route to Cumberland County to assist the students and their families.
