$1.2 million pipeline upgrade coming to East Pennsboro Twp.

Updated: Thursday, September 26 2013, 01:52 PM CDT
On Thursday, Pennsylvania American Water announced plans to start water main replacement in East Pennsboro Township.  The replacement will improve reliability for customers,  reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting.

The $1.2 million upgrade will replace aging and undersized pipe that dates as far back as 1903, the company says.

Crews will install nearly 7,200 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron pipe, in addition to replacing 10 fire hydrants. Construction starts Sunday evening, September 29, on the following streets:

•    North and South Enola Drive between Louis Lane and West North Avenue
•    Louis Lane between North Enola Drive and Henry Road

Construction will take place during the overnight hours between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday morning.

The company expects to complete the water main installation, including transfer of all customer service lines by the end of the year, with final paving restoration scheduled for next spring.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
