DILLSBURG -- Police in Carroll Township are reminding residents of the importance of locking doors on both your home and your car.

On Aug. 14, a car was entered in the 100 block of Evergreen in the Holly Hills neighborhood and two handguns were taken.

Also in the Holly Hills neighborhood, in the 100 block of Martel Circle, another vehicle was entered today and two handguns were taken.

Both cars were unsecured and both crimes occurred at night.

On Tuesday during the day a home in the 600 block of Chestnut Grove Road was entered through a rear door and two handguns were taken. On Monday during the day an unsecured business in the 200 block of Chestnut Grove Road was entered and two handguns were taken.

Also on Tuesday, there was an attempted burglary through a side window of a residence on Pine Street.

CBS 21 talked with the associate director of a Homeowner's Association near Holly Hills. He says they've contacted many of the neighbors to alert them to the thefts. He says rather than get angry, it's important to use basic safety practices.

"Smart is a little better than angry. My personal vehicle has personal property in it and it is never unlocked, even in the driveway," Fred Soulier said.

Anyone with information about these incidents should call the Carroll Township Police Department at 717-432-1383.
