The trial for a former member of the Lower Dauphin School Board facing sex charges is set to begin Monday.

The charges against Rodney Nissley  include child rape.

Dauphin County prosecutor, Sean Mccormack, commended the alleged victim back in May for coming forward and telling her story.

"She is very brave."

"This was a girl who came in here and had a lot of courage (today). To talk about things that happened to her. I think it's extremely difficult and this is one of the reasons. It's the type of situation where if you do come forward you wind up having to testify about this."

According to Mccormack, she says the abuse started seven years ago when she was in elementary school.

The defense tried to discredit the victim during the preliminary hearing back in May since she couldn't remember all the details,

But Mccormack says that is a standard defense. He said the harsh scrutiny can sometimes cause victims to stay quiet.

Court documents show the alleged abuse started in Feburary of 2006.

Among the charges against Rodney Nissley: indecent exposure, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and rape of a child.
