Harrisburg -- A Harrisburg Catholic School Scholarship Program received $38,000 to help give education opportunities to low income families.

Governor Corbett was there to announce the new funds for the Harrisburg Catholic Elementary School.

The money was donated by the Bridge Educational Foundation through Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit program.

Corbett says every child should have the opportunity to get a quality education.

“The opportunity of these two tax credits will allow families to avail themselves to education outside of the public school education,” commented the Governor.  “Find education they feel that fits their needs but differently.  I think that it's absolutely necessary. We need to make education available.”

The Bridge Foundation has helped more than 11,000 families across the state in the past eight years.
