State Police have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted a 19-year-old woman.

Police say James Robert Hale, 29, of Hale Lane in Halifax was charged with aggravated assault against and unborn child, aggravated assault and other charges. Police say Hale had a verbal agreement with the woman, and struck her in the leg while they were driving.

Police say the pair got into another fight at the home on Hale Lane, when Hale choked the victim with his hands until she blacked out. Officials say Hale knew she was pregnant when he assaulted her. After choking her, police say Hale kicked her in the abdomen and sides and then struck her with a closed fist.

Another man at the scene, Jack Hale, allegedly told the woman to leave and then pushed her and kicked her in the lower back while she was climbing the stairs to leave.

Jack Hale was charged with Harassment.

James Hale was taken to Dauphin County Prison on $25,000 bail. Halifax man arrested for assaulting pregnant woman
