A Harrisburg man has been charged with four counts of attempted homicide after allegedly stabbing three police officers trying to arrest him.

The incident happened early Sunday at a home in the 600 block of Oxford Street. Police say 30-year-old Lamarkus Williams first stabbed his 57-year-old mother who was taken to the hospital.

As police tried to make an arrest, they say Williams showed up at the door with a large piece of wood that he swung at the officers.  An attempt to taser Williams failed and he ran into the home. Police followed and they say Williams charged at them with a knife in his hand, stabbing three of the officers.  One of the officers received a slice across the head, the two others were treated for stab wounds in the back or arm.

Police were able to finally subdue Williams with a taser.

A police report indicates a “mental episode” may have started the incident.

The officers, Duane Pyles, Edwin Powell and Christopher Auletta, have been treated and released from the hospital.Harrisburg man charged after stabbing three police officers
