YORK -- Certainly no one is panicking about this, but nobody is happy about what is happening in Washington.

CBS 21 asked one voter, if she had her Congressman, Rep. Scott Perry, R-4,  in front of her right now, what would she say to him?

Her answer: "You should be ashamed of yourself."

Another man's opinion was clear, "It's going to affect everybody, everybody, it's going to hurt everybody."

Margaret Testa felt Congress should do its job, "As long as the American taxpayers are paying the salaries of Congress, they need to do their due diligence and stop scaring everyone and do their job."

Almost everybody has heard about the looming shutdown, some more than others. One young man told CBS 21, "To be honest, I don't know a whole lot about it."

Another told CBS 21, "I can't say much about it.”

Mario Meola is worried about his investments. "I think it will affect me because if the stock market continues to plummet, that is going to affect my IRAs, so directly does it affect me, I'm retired so no," he said.

So who is to blame? Mario told us, "Immature action by our Congress."

"I think it is just scandalous that they can't govern us," said Ross Dellinger. He went on to say, "We are just polarized in every aspect in this country. It's unfortunate because compromise is what we have to do."

Testa had an interesting idea: "I think the simplest solution and the one that might be most effective would be for the president to lock 'em all in a room and say, ‘You have to stay in there until you figure it out.’"

We asked how many would come out alive, and she said, “I don't know. That’s not my problem."

Caroline Morris is not worried about it. "You know they'll get it straightened out by midnight and everybody will go back to work and everything will be fine," she said.
