Lebanon City Police say a man was taken for a mental evaluation after he threatened to kill himself. Police were called to a home on Oak Street around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday and found a 68-year-old man sitting on the porch with a small caliber revolver in his hand. Police say he was pointing the gun at his chest.

Officers were on scene for several hours negotiating with the man. At 2:00 p.m., officials used a noise-flash diversionary device and took the suspect into custody.

Police say the man never threatened any neighbors or any police officers. He was taken for an evaluation for mental health purposes. Police do not expect to file criminal charges. Man taken for mental evaluation after suicide threat in Lebanon
