HERSHEY -- On the heels of a recall of more than two million dehumidifiers, residents in Central Pennsylvania are unplugging theirs and worrying about a fire hazard.

"I had no idea, it's kind of interesting though and obviously important," said Bryan Easton, Derry Township resident.

Up until the time CBS 21 showed up at his door, Easton had been running his dehumidifier in the basement 24/7. He unplugged it as soon as CBS 21 told him about the recall.

Gree is recalling more than two million of its dehumidifiers. The company says they've been linked to 46 fires and caused more than $2 million worth in property damage. The dehumidifiers were sole nationwide between January 2005 and August of this year.

Not only is Easton a volunteer fire fighter at the Hershey Fire Department, he's also a 911 Dispatcher. He sees this as life-saving information.

"I'm just glad that someone is going around and that you're doing a story about it because I would have had no idea," Easton said.

If you think you own a Gree dehumidifier you should immediately turn it off and call 1-866-853-2802.More than 2 million dehumidifiers recalled
