Officials in Lancaster say one person was flown to Crozer-Chester Burn Center with serious injuries after a small plane crashed at Smoketown Airport in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. Witnesses say they heard engine problems. The plane struck a hanger and caught fire. Police say first responders extinguished the fire and rescued a 74-year-old man.

Police say the man was the pilot and the only person in the plane. PENNSTAR flew the man to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment.

The NTSB and the FAA are on their way to investigate.
