State Police are investigating a home burglary in North Newton Township, Cumberland County.

Police responded to a home on the 1900 block of Ritner Highway around 2:45 a.m. on September 12th, after a suspect broke into the home and confronted the homeowners.

Police say the suspect drove a car into the couple's yard and parked it out of sight. The suspect took a chair off the back deck and carried to the side of the house, underneath the bedroom window.

Police say the suspect removed the screen and entered the open window of the bedroom and confronted a 77-year-old man. The man's 78-year-old wife was woken up by the commotion and went to the bedroom, when she heard the suspect threaten her husband and requested money.

The woman told police the suspect would not allow her to enter the bedroom, so she fled to a neighboring home and called 911.

The suspect left the bedroom and stole the woman's purse out of the kitchen before fleeing the home.

Police say the suspect is described as a younger, white male, wearing darker clothes. He is described as 5'11" and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He allegedly left the scene in his car, and traveled north on Ritner Highway. He was last seen traveling on Oakville Road shortly after the incident.
