CBS 21 News is committed to keeping you safe on the roads and continues to raise awareness about the dangers of texting and driving, with our "No Text Zone" campaign.

But, Saturday, teenagers in Dauphin County experienced the dangers of texting behind the wheel firsthand.

Students at Adventure Sports in Derry Township drove go-karts with a police officer, while texting, to show how sending a message effects their driving ability.

The teens were also shown how crews rescue victims trapped in mangled cars as the result of distracted driving crashes.

"It effects people a lot and you just have to realize that you text, you could hurt someone and their family, and it's just really important to think about that," says high school student, Sarah Shambaugh.

Teens also experienced what blind spots were like in big rigs, as well as, using drunk goggles to attempt field sobriety tests.
