GLEN ROCK -- Despite a 10-car crash involving several tractor trailers, there are no serious injuries from the crash on I-83 near Loganville.

Clean-up on I-83 Northbound near Glen Rock will continue through the evening after 10-car pile-up and sent seven people to the hospital.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. and caused massive traffic problems throughout York County as people struggled to find other routes to get around.
For a short time all lanes in both directions were closed.

Around 2:30 p.m., one southbound lane was opened. The second lane southbound opened around 4:40 p.m. State police say all traffic northbound will be diverted off I-83 at the Glen Rock exit, Exit 8, through the evening.

The cause has yet to be determined. Police said in a press release that, for unknown reasons, traffic began to slow in the northbound lanes. A tractor trailer traveling in the passing lane was unable to slow his vehicle in time and rear-ended another vehicle which caused a chain reaction and led to the pile-up.

The vehicles involved were four tractor trailers, five cars, and one tow truck towing 2 vehicles. Seven people were taken to York Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids leaked but were contained by HAZMAT crews.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Detour information:
Get off at Exit 8 (Glen Rock) and turn left onto
Route 216 west. Then turn right onto Susquehanna Trail North, which
takes you to North Street, turn right onto North Street, which will take
you to Exit 10 (Loganville) where you can get back on the Interstate.
