UPDATE: Man killed by police as he tries to flee standoff with numerous guns

A man was killed in a stand-off with state policeMonday afternoon in ST. Thomas, Franklin County.

State Police Trooper Rob Hicks says investigators will remain on the scene throughout the evening to determine what exactly happened and whether correct proceedures were taken by the SERT (Special Emergency Response Team) team.
He says the suspect held them at bay for hours inside his home off of St. Thomas Williamson Road. They were aware at that time that man was heavily armed. 

He then reportedly bolted from his home and that is when troopers fired and killed the man.

Police say the stand-off began around 10:30 Monday morning when troopers tried to issue an arrest warrant for the man, who allegedly assaulting his girlfriend on Saturday night.

Police are not confirming the man's name at this time.

Police are on the scene of a standoff in St. Thomas, Franklin County.

Police were called to a home in the 500 block of St. Thomas Williamson Road around 1:30 p.m. State Police tell us a 47-year-old man had an aggravated assault warrant out for his arrest due to a domestic dispute that happened on Saturday.
