UPDATE: Police chase in two counties; officers shot

UPDATED 10:45 P.M.: Police are saying the suspect is dead. The coroner has been called to the scene and residents are advised that the scene has been "stabilized," according to Cumberland County Department of Public Safety.

UPDATED 8:30 P.M. -- Police have closed the 400 block of Roxbury Road, Upper Mifflin Township, Cumberland County, related to this incident.

Scanner chatter indicates the vehicle may have crashed in that vicinity. 

An armored vehicle is on its way and a helicopter continues to circle the area. 

We'll have more information for you as it becomes available; we'll have a full report with a timeline of events tonight at 10 and 11.

UPDATED 7:46 P.M.: The high-speed chase in southern Cumberland County has started up again. 

A state police officer from Chambersburg barracks was shot in the shoulder but is said to be alert, conscious and talking.

The chase has moved to Dublin Gap Road, and police are in pursuit. We'll update you with more information as we find out more!

UPDATED 7:30 P.M.: Police are speeding north on Oakville Road, near Shippensburg. 

Scanner chatter says reports of shots fired in the area of Creekside Drive.

UPDATED 6:40 P.M.: Police have released a be on the lookout alert for a black Plymouth van, with a stolen license plate number JCS 7220.

The van was used in a robbery in Ohio, and also in a robbery in Franklin County earlier today. 

The driver is a white man, 6 feet tall, wearing khaki shorts, a gold sweatshirt, and a blue baseball cap. He wore a white stocking mask during the robbery.

He is known to have a black, semi-automatic gun. One trooper has already been injured in pursuit of this suspect. The public is advised he is armed and dangerous.

UPDATED 6:20 P.M.: Cumberland County Department of Public Safety has announced there will be a media briefing at 1 Public Safety Drive, Carlisle, to release more information on the on-going state police incident near Shippensburg.

UPDATED 6:05 P.M.: The high-speed chase has ended, but the suspect is still at large.

SHIPPENSBURG -- State police confirm that officers in both Cumberland and Franklin counties, assisted by Shippensburg University Police, are involved in a high-speed chase near Newville and Foltz roads, Cumberland County.

Shippensburg University students have been placed on alert.
