Woman bites police officer, arrested for public drunkeness twice in one month

North Middleton Township Police say a woman was arrested after she bit a police officer.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of Spring Road on Friday night, for a report of an intoxicated female who was staggering alongside the road and had run into a utility pole.

Police say Ancherie Smith, 33, of Carlisle was taken to Cumberland County Prison on Public Drunkenness. When officers took Smith to to the prison, they say she became combative and resisted officers trying to take her into the prison.

Smith allegedly bit an officer on the hand and continued to resist police. She was charged with felony aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated harassment by a prisoner, resiting arrest, simple assault and a Harassment, along with the summary charge of public drunkenness.

Smith was arrested earlier in September for public drunkenness, a press release said. Woman bites police officer, arrested for public drunkeness twice in one month
