York City teams up with Weight Watchers to launch new grant program

Updated: Tuesday, September 24 2013, 06:13 PM CDT
York is trying to do its part to curb obesity.  It goes along with the "Let's Move York City" expansion.

The city is teaming up with Weight Watchers International Inc. to launch a new grant program. It was just one of three cities selected.

Local parents can participate, as long as they meet the financial and health requirements.

Reports show, one in three adults in York are obese and another third are overweight.

If you meet the criteria, you'd be able to take part in the Weight Watchers meetings and have free access to the company's online and mobile tools.

To find out if you qualify, contact contact Melanie Quigley, at 717-849-2340 or MQuigley@yorkcity.org.
