A woman chased down a robber more than twice her size and half her age, cornering him and even delivering a religious scolding, after he snatched her wallet on a CTA bus in the Loop early this morning, police said.
“She kept telling him God didn’t want him to steal her wallet,” a police source said, reading from a report.
The 50-year-old woman was riding the bus just after midnight when Jenar Sanders, 18 and towering over her by nearly a foot, got on at Randolph and State streets, police said. Sanders grabbed her wallet from her purse and jumped off the bus at Huron and State streets, police said.
The woman chased after Sanders, screaming and alerting others as she ran down the street. As she passed the Omni Hotel, a hotel staff member called police, according to the report. The CTA bus driver also notified police.
Sanders ended up in an alley off Superior Street between Wabash Avenue and Rush Street, surrounded by the victim and others who had joined the chase, police said.
