Students at Northern Middle School in Dillsburg, York County broke the school's record for the mini-thon fundraiser.
On March 8, over 400 students participated in a seven hour Mini-Thon to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children's Hospital.
The students raised, $40,965 which is double of last year's Mini-Thon.
Students participated in a talent show, tug-o-war contest against teachers, gym relays and dance contests.
As a reward for all student teams who met fundraising challenges, the school will hold a special school wide assembly on March 27. At the assembly, teachers with beards will have them shaved, they will be duct taped to walls and will be receiving colored Mowhaw hairstyles.
The success of this Mini-Thon follows Northern High School's Four Diamonds Polarthon, that was held last month. That fundraiser collected $32,355.
Together, both schools raised $73,320, the highest in the district’s history.
