Wednesday morning, police used a volunteer to conduct a safety detail at a crosswalk.

Between 930 a.m. and 1115 a.m., Palmyra Borough Police conducted a safety detail at the crosswalk at Main and Chestnut Streets in Palmyra.

Police monitored traffic approaching the intersection, while a volunteer pedestrian attempted to cross the street in a marked crosswalk.  Three people were cited for failure to yield the right-of-way of pedestrians.

Police want to remind drivers that according to PA Law, they must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians within a crosswalk.  Violation can result in a fine of $137.00.

Palmyra Police plan to continue to conduct this type of event to make sure drivers are obeying traffic laws.
