Alaina McNaughton is a typical 16 year old at Central Dauphin H.S. She goes to class, studies hard, and dreams of one day becoming a Rockette.
Alaina even got to dance with them this year during an intensive summer program in new York City.
"It was so amazing because you're so small standing on the stage at Radio City," recalls McNaughton about the experience.
When Alaina's school day ends, the fun really begins for her at the Capital Area School for the Arts in Harrisburg's Strawberry Square.
Alaina dances seven days a week - it's her favorite thing in the world.
But she also uses her skills for good. She volunteers her time to teach wheelchair ballet. Alaina was involved in this year's "Celebration of Children" performance at the Forum.
"There are all different kinds of kids there with different disabilities. And it's cool to watch them dance and learn how to do what I do and what everyone else does - like ballet, and this year we're doing hip-hop," says McNaughton.
Alaina *also* finds time to student coach cheerleaders at Holy Name of Jesus, teach cheer camp, and she teaches Sunday school as well! But her passion is and always will be dancing. And if other people can benefit from her passion, then that's just fine by her.
"I like doing it because I like seeing people grow and develop. And I like giving back to them and teaching what I know to them so they can go on and teach other people," says McNaughton.
