Recap: Nebraska vs. Iowa

Lincoln. NE (Sports Network) - Matt Gatens scored 16 points to lead the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 62-53 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a Big Ten conference battle at Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Bryce Cartwright and Roy Devyn Marble each added 11 for Iowa (16-14, 8-9 Big Ten) which has won three of its last four.

Brandon Ubel put in 17 points and Caleb Walker added 15 for Nebraska (12-16, 4-13) which has lost seven of its last eight.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half with Iowa holding a 23-19 lead at the half by shooting 37.5 percent from the floor which outpaced the 28.6 percent clip from Nebraska.

The game remained close to start the second half with Iowa leading by four, 39-35, with 12:09 remaining. The Hawkeyes then rattled off 10 unanswered points to go up 49-35 with 10:16 remaining and the Cornhuskers got no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Iowa converted 14 Nebraska turnovers into 17 points and had its bench outscore the Cornhuskers reserves 15-5.
