Recap: TCU vs. Northwestern
South Padre Island, TX (Sports Network) - Jared Swopshire scored a game-high 15 points as the Northwestern Wildcats made easy work of the TCU Horned Frogs, 55-31, in the semifinals of the South Padre Island Invitational.
Reggie Hearn and Drew Crawford each scored 12 points for the Wildcats (5-0), who will take on Illinois State in the championship game on Saturday.
For TCU (4-2), Devonta Abron tallied 12 points and eight rebounds. The Horned Frogs, who shot just 28.6 percent on the night, will play UAB in the tournament's third-place game.
Northwestern made just 34.6 percent of its field goals in the opening half, but TCU was even worse at 27.3 percent, as the Wildcats took a 24-14 advantage into intermission.
The Horned Frogs' cold shooting continued after halftime and the game was never in doubt in the final 20 minutes.
Northwestern shot 13-of-14 from the free throw line, while TCU went just 5- of-12 from the stripe.
