Recap: George Mason vs. Drexel

Fairfax, VA (Sports Network) - Damion Lee netted 29 points, including a decisive 3-pointer with 23 seconds remaining to lead the Drexel Dragons to a 58-54 road victory over the George Mason Patriots in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at the Patriot Center.

Lee, who also collected nine rebounds, shot 11-of-19 from the floor and carried Drexel (9-12, 5-4 CAA) offensively, finishing with exactly half of the Dragons' points. Derrick Thomas chipped in 12 points while Dartaye Ruffin corralled a game-high 10 rebounds.

Sherrod Wright shot a perfect 5-of-5 at the foul line and scored 15 points for George Mason (12-9, 5-4) which dropped its second consecutive game. Jonathan Arledge added 14 points.

The home team jumped out to a 12-1 lead and controlled the action for the duration of the first half. The Patriots shot 54.2 percent in the first half while connecting on 4-of-7 from long range. The hosts went ahead by as many as 20 points in the period and led 38-25 at intermission.

Drexel chipped away at the deficit and took its first lead of the game midway through the second half on a layup by Lee. Later in the period, Wright and Lee traded baskets, tying the score with 2:16 remaining. After empty possessions each way, Franz Massenat found Lee coming off a screen for the crucial 3-point conversion.

Drexel outrebounded George Mason, 39-28, with 14 of those boards coming at the offensive end.
